Island Parking

I passed by Souk Sharq tonight and it was really packed. Turned out Debenhams had a 2 day sale and today was the last day so there was a huge rush of people trying to take advantage before it was over. Parking was a bitch as usual. I think Souk Sharq has the worst parking. With Marina Mall if the parking fills up you could always find a place around Marina Mall where you could park your car. Because Souk Sharq is basically an island, if you can't find parking on the island you can't park anywhere around it. Luckily we were able to find a parking spot next to the fish market but only after like 20 minutes of driving around in circles.

Yo! Sushi

A new sushi place is opening up in Marina Mall in the place of the recently shutdown JAX Grill & Cafe. A lot of sushi places have been popping up in Kuwait but this new one called YO! Sushi is an international franchise with branches in England, Greece, UAE and France. So far it looks like its going to be a really funky sushi place so can't wait till it opens up. Today is Day 320 of my project.

Saatchi&Saatchi

Past by the competition today. I have a friend who works there who used to be with me in another agency. I like passing by competing agencies, when you walk in they all start to hide stuff from you and start covering up papers and stuff. They seem to think I have like super photographic memory or that I care to see their work. The funny thing is, my sister and my wife each work at a competing agency so we are always hiding stuff from each other, pretty funny.

The McDonalds Accord

Today I signed a treaty with my wife. I am now officially allowed to have McDonalds again for lunch based on the following conditions:

1. My meal should not contain more then 1000 calories
2. My meal should not include french fries
3. If I order a softdrink it has to be the small size
4. I stop eating at Hardees and KFC

Watch it

This project is really fucking getting difficult. I walked around in my area to find something to shoot and the only thing I found interesting was the new max speed limit sign they erected. People usually watch their speed out on the highways but does anyone ever follow or notice the speed limits in regular streets?

Lights Out

It was around 5:30PM and I was saving my work when suddenly the power went out. At first we thought it was just our building but a quick peak out the window and we realized the surrounding buildings also had their power cut off. Some people were stuck in the elevators but then the emergency generator kicked in and the elevators were back online, only the elevators nothing else. We spent the next 30 minutes waiting for the power to come back on but it never did so we left.

Magic Mountain

Went to the drive through car wash in Mansouriyeh today. I used to go to the Bayan one but that one has been shutdown for renovation, so today I went to the one on the 4th Ring Road and that one was also closed. I asked an employee there where I could find a working one and he sent me to Mansouriyeh. I get there and the place looked empty, so I go in and I pay the guy at the entrance, then I drive behind the gas station and I see 2 long lines waiting for their interiors to be cleaned. exactly 1 hour later it was my cars turn to be cleaned. One fucking hour! Just today morning I had taken out the PSP from my bag since I figured I wasn't going to use it, so there I was in my car waiting for my turn wishing I hadn't left the PSP home. Luckily Nat was with me so we ended up playing some Tic Tac Toe and Hangman. The whole point of drive thru's is that they are quick, this wasn't quick. So word of advice, don't wash your car on a Friday.

Case No. D2004-0528

Had another photography shoot today, this time at THE ONE. I learned an interesting fact today, I always wondered why THE in THE ONE was larger then the word ONE. It didn't make sense but it turns out THE actually stands for Total Home Experience. Anyway I was just googling and it turns out "THE ONE" was in a domain dispute. It seems they wanted the rights to the domain theone.com but a Taiwanese company owned it. THE ONE lost the case and didn't get the domain but there is some interesting information to read. Check it out.

Too Much Work

I was at work today from 8:30AM to 10:30PM so here is a picture of my desk. Its the smallest desk in the office, I don't know how I got stuck with it.

BMW

Today I had a photography shoot and I have to say this was one of the most exhausting ones I have ever directed. The photographer was having a difficult time with the lighting and the model wasn't being very cooperative so things weren't going very smoothly. The shoot took only 4 hours but it felt a lot longer. Today is day 310 of this project.

Simply The Best

I past by Sultan Center tonight and restocked on A&W Root Beer. It pisses me off that there is no more A&W in Kuwait since they had the best cheese burgers and chili dogs.

Pop Shoot

What a day. I had a commercial shoot from 8AM till 5PM in the afternoon. All of the shooting involved being outdoors so I have a sunburn at the moment. I also had to take the roof off of my Wrangler because it was going to be used in one of the shots. Let me tell you something, its too fucking hot to be driving around in this weather with the roof off, you might as well drive with the heaters on you know. Anyway, todays picture was taken in a public park where one of our shots took place. I like taking pictures of the blades of grass, its not shots you usually associate with Kuwait and because you get so close, the picture can be deceiving. For example I like the picture because to me it feels very gloomy and wintery. In reality, the actual scene was hot, bright and sunny. You don't always get what you see.

21 Days, 21 Pranks.

Our creative director has been out of the office for 21 days shooting a commercial. He comes back to work Saturday morning and he will have 21 different pranks waiting for him. This picture is of one of the pranks, I scribbled I love Mark all along the edge of his desk. Hopefully he has a sense of humor or else I am pretty fucked.

Still on the Diet

I had a "healthy" lunch at Starbucks today. I had the special club sandwich. It was terrible and I miss McDondalds.

Reflection

Nat took this picture of me while I was at the dentist tonight. Half my face is numb and I am on super pain killers called Arcoxia (120mg tablets). Dentist kept telling me that I should only take 1 pill per day and not more. Seems they must have some cool effects if you take more.

My Diet

I started my diet late last week. I was 89.7KG when I started which means I have gained nearly 1KG since then. Nat wants me to eat healthy food to help me lose weight although I tried explaining to her healthy food makes me fat. Hopefully once a gain a few more KG she will let me go back to eating my McDonalds.

B+F

I went to Al Raya mall tonight and had dinner at the Burger Boutique. I think its the best burger place in Kuwait. The interior of the place is really like nothing else in Kuwait, the music is great and again like nothing else in Kuwait, the burgers are similar in style to Johnny Rockets except way better, the service is very friendly and helpful and finally the prices are far less then you would expect, similar to Johnny Rockets actually. What is even cooler is that the Burger Boutique is a local franchise, 100% Made in Kuwait. Today is Day 300 of this project meaning 65 days left to go.

Went to Marina Crescent tonight for dinner. It was like super crowded because the weather was pretty decent. Spotted this couple cuddling up on one of the benches over looking the marina.

Live TV Sucks

I'm too tired. There is an issue with my Tivo and I no longer am getting the channels guide so Tivo-Guy was helping all evening trying to get it to work. I can't watch TV without my Tivo anymore. I was telling Tivo-Guy that live TV* is too complicated to watch. So many channels and so many shows all playing at once. With the Tivo it takes care of all that mess and life becomes a lot simpler. Since I didn't want to bother flipping through live TV channels and trying to find something to watch I just had my TV on CNN all night. I miss my Tivo.

*Live TV is stuff on TV thats currently playing by the broadcaster. Stuff not recorded by Tivo.

Watch Tower

I was parked under this bridge waiting for the traffic light to turn green when I noticed this weird ghostly reflection on my window because of the bright street light. I took a picture and then when I got home I realized the colors turned out really cool.

Sit Bugles Sit!

I got my copy of Nintendogs today! I started it and chose a dog from the kennel, I went with a miniature dachshund since Chips my old dog who past away was a dachshund. I also called my puppy Bugles since my old dog was called Chips and my favorite chips is Bugles. Its such a cool simulation, Bugles recognizes its name and I can teach it tricks. So far I thought him how to sit and lie down so when I say Bugles sit, he sits. Nintendogs is basically like a Tagamotchi pet except its far way more advanced.

Green Field

I took this picture at Marina Crescent today on my way to lunch. If I had known the colors and the composition would have come out like this I would have framed my picture a lot better. Maybe I will try again on a different day but for now this will do for today.

View Master

It was too humid outside today to shoot anything. Whenever I took my camera out the lens just kept fogging up, so I had to shoot indoors, and in my house specifically. Its very difficult to find stuff to shoot in my house so what I end up doing is experimenting with long exposures and different colored objects. Todays shot is of my metallic red View Master sitting in its vibrant blue stand. Aperture was set at f25 and the shutter speed was 1 second using an iso of 640.

Belly Up

Witnessed a big accident on the Gulf Road opposite Shaab Park today on my way home back from work. I thought about going down to take some pictures but decided against it since it was too hot. I shot this picture out of my car's window.
